I have fallen in love with full-speed adaptive cruise control. I was skeptical at first, but after learning to trust it now I consider it as nice as A/C. I have it on my CTS Vsport, as part of the Premium package. I used it today to follow traffic at varying speeds, including full stop, then pickup speed again always keeping a safe distance. It was unnerving at first, and I admit my foot is never too far from the brake, but wow it is very convenient.
I could see how Adaptive Cruise could be a bad thing though. It does create a sense of laziness or carelessness, if you don't pay attention. The new Super Cruise features that also steer should be very interesting. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet, thinking of 5000 pounds of SUV going down the road at 60+MPH essentially on autopilot (or autodriver) is a bit concerning, even if I'm 'driving' let alone if I'm in the lane next to it.
I don't see how full-speed Adaptive Cruise can work with a real manual transmission though. Which might be a good thing, as it will preserve manual transmission cars as full driver engagement required, all the time. If anybody knows of a manual transmission car with adaptive cruise, please say so.

...as it will preserve manual transmission cars as full driver engagement required, all the time.
Actually, the exact opposite will happen. People pick automatics out of convenience. If ACC becomes the next feature every car must have, then the additional convenience of it will cause even more people to cross manuals off their list.
Also, don't want to be rude, but I'm highly skeptical of a crab's ability to 1) turn to stone, 2) operate a vehicle and 3) operate a keyboard.

Mercedes has this with steering. The system only works if you are touching the steering wheel at least lightly with one hand. Not a perfect solution, but it can Also tell if you are drowsy or fall asleep. It works pretty well.

I've got people for that stuff... I'm too busy trying to stay out of a crab trap...
